Community Investment Report
By Dr. Patty Grigoryev

THE RESULTS ARE IN!

We are no longer talking about a ‘new model’ at United Way .  The Community Impact Agenda is in full swing and initial results are in!  This marks the first full year of implementation for our partner organizations in measuring and achieving outcomes.  For an accounting of the results, please see the Community Impact section in this report.

We have just completed the allocations process for 2007.  As always, United Way staff and volunteers from throughout the community review applications.  Volunteers are given outcomes training, then they review, rank and score the applications according to focus area:  Education, Access to Health Care, Strengthening Neighborhoods, Strengthening Youth & Family and Assisting in Crisis.  The entire group meets again to reach a consensus on scores.  Then it’s the task of the Community Investment Team of the Board to make a recommendation on funding for the approval of the entire Board of Directors.  It is the Board of Directors of United Way who makes the final allocation decisions for funding each year.

This work could not have been done without the community representatives volunteering their time to carefully read and determine reviews on the various submissions.  This objective look at the vast array of services and programs is time consuming!  United Way would like to express our appreciation for the care and diligence that went into the deliberations and comments from our community scorers.

A sincere thank you to the 2007 Community Investment Team panelists:
